I designed and developed Ruth Crafer's new website, the focus of which was quite simple — to keep the pictures front and centre.

Ruth has almost 40 years experience in the media industry with work having been showcased on the front pages of national newspapers.

Due to Ruth's vast experience there is quite the roster of people to showcase which is what led to the staggered image layout on the homepage. This allowed multiple portraits of differing actors to be displayed at once while also allowing a form of comparison between each. To reduce visual clutter titles that overlay the images are only shown on hover. On mobile they are always shown as it narrows down to a 2 column layout, which is less busy.

Everything on the site is clear cut, whether that's the straight edges on the images, the narrow colour palette of grey or the ample white space, all of which is designed to lend a hand to the images themselves, to give them space to shine and breath.

The website was built using a headless CMS which gives you the ability to easily add and update your website without any technical knowledge. If you're interested in a similar layout for showcasing your work, let's chat. Catch me at gpk@gavin-kemp.com
